![]() Having spent time in foster care, Rebecca understands how important it is not to take anything for granted. “A lot of people have parents they can come home to,” she says. “Parents to say goodnight to, and get a hug and kiss from. I’ve never really had that. But spending time with Jami, my mentor, has really helped me feel there’s someone who truly cares about me.” Rebecca first heard about Lad Lake’s Mentoring program through a friend in foster care. The prospect of being able to bond with someone who could share insights and help her in college really appealed to her. “Jami taught me so many things about what to expect, not only in college but in life. That sort of knowledge is very valuable to me.” Currently enrolled at Carroll College, Rebecca plans on studying to become a veterinarian. “I’ve wanted to be a vet since I was 5 years old. Because of Jami and Lad Lake, I’m one step closer to achieving a lifelong dream. It’s exciting.” |
