Lad Lake Synergy School

Lad Lake Synergy is one of Lad Lake, Inc.’s three educational programs. Synergy has been providing educational services to children in Milwaukee since 1994.

Since its inception, Synergy has operated as a full-day partnership school with Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) and has served more than 3,000 students.

Lad Lake Synergy does not offer open enrollment. All students enrolled at Synergy are assigned through Milwaukee Public Schools Student Services.

Academic Programming & Supports

Academic programming at Lad Lake Synergy focuses on four core curriculum areas:

Mathematics
English Language Arts (ELA)
Science
Social Studies

Student support is provided through a Response to Intervention (RTI) model using multiple tiers of intervention. All students receive standards-aligned core instruction through Tier 1. Students who need additional support receive small-group interventions through Tier 2 and more targeted, individualized interventions through Tier 3.

Each student enrolled at Lad Lake Synergy is monitored through an individualized Student Learning Plan focused on the ABCs:

A – Attendance
B – Behavior
C – Credits/Courses

Students also participate in a Student-Led Dismissal Presentation, giving them an opportunity to demonstrate their progress, accomplishments, and readiness for their next educational setting.

Behavioral & Social-Emotional Supports

Lad Lake Synergy staff use a Trauma-Informed Care approach to collaboratively address student needs while helping students develop self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

Behavioral and social-emotional supports include:

One-on-one check-ins with staff
A comfortable space for students to refocus with support from the PBIS Interventionist in the Synergy Energy Room
Boys and Girls Groups
Daily physical activity
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) classes

Through a combination of academic instruction, individualized interventions, behavioral support, and social-emotional learning, Lad Lake Synergy works to help students build the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.
